A Disability Services Officer delivers person-centred support to individuals with intellectual, physical, social, and emotional disabilities across community, home, and group settings, following NDIS principles. This role empowers participants to build independence, enhance quality of life, and participate in community, education, employment, and social activities.
Key duties include assessing clients’ needs through interviews with clients, families, and carers; developing, implementing, and reviewing personalised support plans and skill-building programs; assisting with daily living tasks and personal care as needed; supporting access to mainstream services, health, welfare, housing, and employment; facilitating social participation, relationships, and informed decision-making; monitoring progress, maintaining NDIS-compliant records, and reporting outcomes; liaising with families, carers, allied health professionals, and agencies; and advocating for clients while promoting dignity, choice, and cultural sensitivity.

The remuneration package includes a base salary of $78,000 per annum, depending on experience and qualifications, plus 12% superannuation or higher if covered by an enterprise agreement. You need a Diploma or higher qualification in a relevant area. This could be a Diploma of Community Services, Disability, or Mental Health, a Certificate IV in Disability plus a Diploma, or a bachelor’s degree in social work, Psychology, Behavioural Science, or a similar field.You must have at least one year of full-time equivalent paid work experience (or equivalent part-time/casual hours) in providing direct support, case management, or coordination services to people with disabilities. This experience should include working in community, home-based, or residential settings, implementing individual support plans, assisting with daily living activities, promoting community participation, and collaborating with families, carers, and allied health professionals in line with NDIS principles.
