Job Description:

An Aged and Disabled Carer provides personal care, emotional support, and daily living assistance to elderly people and individuals living with disabilities in their homes, community settings, or care facilities. The role focuses on supporting clients to maintain independence, dignity, safety, and quality of life.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

Assisting clients with personal care including showering, dressing, grooming, toileting, and mobility support

Supporting clients with daily living activities such as meal preparation, feeding, cleaning, laundry, and household tasks

Providing companionship and emotional support to clients

Assisting clients with medication reminders and health-related routines under supervision

Supporting clients to attend appointments, community activities, and social outings

Monitoring clients’ wellbeing and reporting any health or behavioural concerns to supervisors or healthcare professionals

Maintaining accurate records, progress notes, and incident reports

Following care plans, workplace policies, safety procedures, and infection control practices

Supporting clients in a respectful, culturally appropriate, and person-centred manner

Assisting clients with mobility aids and ensuring a safe living environment

Skills and Attributes:

Good communication and interpersonal skills

Compassionate and patient approach

Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Strong understanding of client confidentiality and professional boundaries

Ability to manage challenging situations calmly and professionally

Qualifications and Requirements:

Certificate III or IV in Individual Support, Disability, Aged Care, or related field

First Aid and CPR certification

National Police Check, Working with Children Check, and NDIS Worker Screening Check (if applicable)

Valid driver licence may be preferred
